A study of weight of consideration factors in layout development for machinery industries using improvement-type heuristics

The weights of the factors to be considered in the development of layouts using improvement-type heuristics is discussed in this paper. The determination of weights is especially important in such heuristics. The weights correspond to the coefficients of the variables in a multiple-objective function. The ranking of the weights is also useful in the heuristic for ‘departmental switching orders’. Computer simulation is used to see if the weights supplied by those in the industry can be used in the heuristic. A method is presented for searching the neighbourhood of the optimum with the weights that are found. [In Korean.]
