Assuming that the lifetime density and repair rate of system are mixed Erland distribution and a constant respectively, several measures of systems performance are obtained by identifying the underlying stochastic processes describing the behaviour of the system as an alternating renewal process. Also, the expected total sojourn times during (0,t) and a 100p% confidence interval for the steady state availability of the system are obtained.
