In this article the authors consider two generalized ordering policies for a complex system with age-dependent minimal repair and general random repair costs. Introducing costs due to ordering, repairs, shortage and holding, they derive the expected cost per unit time in the long run as a criterion of optimality and seek the optimum ordering policies by minimizing that cost. The authors show that, under certain conditions, there exists a finite and unique optimum policy. Various special cases are discussed. Finally, a numerical example is given.
