The paper discusses a problem of obtaining quantitative bounds in the theory of queues. It assumes that these bounds are right in order to employ them in the analysis of real systems. Basic attention is paid to the evalutation of the rate of convergence to the steady state and comparison bounds. The paper considers the two problems for queueing models described as wide sense regenerative processes. It is shown that their efficient solution can be found with the aid of such tools as coupling and crossing. It also discusses various ways of obtaining tight quantitative bounds.
