The problems pertaining to one component system supported by an inactive standby and a repair facility are studied under the assumption that the overlapping lifetimes and repair times follow the Freund bivariate exponential distribution. The stochastic process governing the system is shown to be IFR. Performance measures of the system (PMS) are obtained. Two sampling schemes are proposed to estimate the PMS. Also the problem of selecting repair rates to maximize the steady-state availability for given component failure rates under suitable constraints is solved.
