A simulation model of the road traffic on the ‘25 de Abril’ bridge

In this paper the authors present one simulation model of the road traffic flow on ‘25 de Abril’ bridge. The model was developed for both traffic ways. Junta Autónoma das Estradas (the central road services) provided a sample of North-South hourly traffic flow numbers. A model was built based on that sample allowing us to evaluate the functioning conditions of the bridge and also the 5th lane use. The model user may interact with the system, trying different managing conditions regarding the 5th lane (closing it to the traffic, or opening it to the North-South or to the South-North traffic way).
