Abstract:

As the ‘baby boomers’ of the 1940s and 1950s approach middle age and the overall population ages, the number of people diagnosed with end stage renal disease increases. There are four options for most patients: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, transplant, or death. While they wait for suitable transplant donors, hemodialysis is the only option for many, and the demand now exceeds available dialysis times. in this article, a recommendation for improving capacity management for hemodialysis centers is presented.
