One year after implementation of a decision support and finite scheduling system at a major defense contractor, positive impacts on production control were documented. Activity analysis shows a transition of production control support from a data gathering/expediting function to a planning/continuous improvement role. The changes in shop-floor control are effecting positive trends in the shop performance measures.
