Projects are ordered sets of unique activities. The variability in the estimated duration of the activities makes planning very difficult. Modern management tools and automated programs help but are not fully successful. This paper overviews several project management techniques and discusses the factors which make projects invariably late. It outlines a simple technique that can be used by hand or with automated tools to help complete projects on time.
