Abstract:

Environmental pollution is a dominant issue on today’s international political and economic agenda. In some cases it is inevitable that the use of a resource (such as oil) should create pollution. The problem is how to minimise the effects of such pollution. This paper studies two aspects of this; optimisation in the space dimension and optimisation in the time domain. The resource being considered is an exhaustible one.
