Abstract:

This paper illustrates the use of the duality of structure in Giddens’ structuration theory in providing the conceptual levers for linking context and process in multiple level analysis. It does this by redescribing and reinterpreting a case study that captures the history, contexts, contents and processes of the social phenomenon at the levels of the individual, organisation and society. The structurational analysis focus on the interconnection of context and process across time through the three modalities of structuration, namely, interpretive schemes, resources and norms. The operationalization of the concept leads to a rich understanding and the production of sophisticated theories which could provide a sound basis for managerial and policy prescription.
