The Interdisciplinary Study Program (MISP, for Modellversuch Interdisziplinares Studien- Programm) is a pilot project for enhancing the ability of students to interact with specialists in areas which are not their special fields. It has been installed at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, to investigate the best way to achieve this goal. The paper describes the organizational set-up of MISP and elaborate on a MISP topic entitled: ‘Communal Planning: Public Transportation and Waste Management’.
