Abstract:

This paper considers centers of circumballs for bounded sets in a Banach space. It puts into evidence the role played by extreme points or, when lacking, by almost extreme points, to locate centers. The situation for euclidean spaces is well known, but some generalizations are possible. Also, the paper shows how in general the size of circumballs of finite sets does not depend functionally on the mutual distances among points.
