A review of location-allocation applications literature

The authors identify and classify published applications of location-allocation modelling. The paper has two main sections-a classification table and a bibliography. The classification is: (1) by sector (public and private) sub-classified by type (emergency, fire, etc.) (2) by formal model structure (p-median, etc.) (3) the nature of the real world application. Comments on special features are also indicated in the table. The bibliographic section contains the full references to the individual entries in the classification. The authors discuss briefly the present classification system and comment on the difficulty of forcing such a heterogeneous literature into such a rigid structure.
