Linear optimization of urban bus routes and frequencies

For urban transport routing and frequencing the authors assume fixed demand (however a variable one can be introduced without problems) and two types of objective functions: 1, minimum total number of buses with constrained ‘overloading’ of them, and 2, minimum overloading with a constrained total number of buses. In both cases a linear optimization model can be adopted. Experience in practice is mentioned as well.
