Starting with induced state-conditional preferences for an additive and potentially state-dependent SSB utility model, the authors investigate the effects of transitive preference on various super-sets of a set of available lottery acts, Sufficient richness of the act set forces transitive preferences to be fully linear; failing such richness, transitive but nonlinear preferences may obtain.
