Abstract:

The management of forestry resources is a clear multicriteria problem aimed at achieving objectives of a very different nature such as: economic, environmental, social, etc. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the main pros and cons of different multicriteria approaches when applied to the forestry field. From the analysis undertaken it is possible to deduce a certain superiority of the satisfacing methods based on goals for forestry management problems and compromise programming for the appraisal of forestry assets.
