Genetic algorithms in optimal electric and gas distribution network planning

This paper presents a new comprehensive methodology based on genetic algorithms for multistage electric and gas distribution network planning. This methodology takes into account several aspects usually neglected in traditional approaches like, for example, multiple criteria and representation of uncertainties. A case study is presented illustrating the proposed approach followed by a discussion on the advantages of this methodology in the planning context.
