The paper presents a general outline and the main assumptions behind the system dynamics type model of the macroeconomic processes taking place within the area of the former German Democratic Republic. A number of scenarios are characterized and the respective results show. Although, as usual for this technique, the model has to be based upon several arbitrary prerequisites, its use of utility seems to reach outside of the didactic domain, since some of the conclusions formulated at the time of model development (1990) turned out to be true three years later.
