Analytical support for international negotiators: Developing the toolkit

Information requirements for international negotiations are considered. Then, the paper goes on to basic questions which have to be addressed in provision of truly practical analytical tools for assisting the negotiation process. Emphasis is placed upon the use of analytical techniques in the pre-negotiation phase. A summary of families of analytical methods available, together with their applicability, is provided, followed by an overview of future research directions. This is a very general paper, but it provides a broad perspective on the subject, including various methodological avenues.
