A multileveled distributed railway traffic control system, which overcomes the drawbacks of conventional centralized railway traffic control systems, is proposed in this paper. The system structure, function distribution and interactions among different levels of the proposed system is addressed in detail. The algorithm, which is based on distributed intelligence, knowledge engineering and fuzzy multiattribute decisionmaking, can realize the control strategy of dispatches in traffic control. The feasibility of the proposed approach has been proved by simulations.
