For the optimal design, organisation and dimensioning of vehicle systems the functional dependency of the performance, the transportation time, the number of vehicles and other objects of optimization must be known. After an analysis of the parameters, network structures and control strategies of vehicle systems formulas for the calculation of vehicle flows, system performance, transportation time and number of vehicles are derived from known relations for the performance of the system elements and the queuing effects. Based on these formula a computer program has been developed for the dimensioning of vehicle systems.
