Abstract:

In this paper, first the increasing importance of Cellular Manufacturing is mentioned, the cell scheduling problem is introduced, and different cell scheduling techniques are discussed. Later, the existing synchronization methods are described briefly. The synchronization problem in a jewelry manufacturing company is introduced and the use of the Time Bucket Approach is proposed. The factors to be considered before an implementation takes place are presented. These factors are based on the real life experience with the same company. Finally, the results obtained during different phases of the implementation are reported.
