An overview of some major current research topics in simulation

The use of simulation in helping management decision making has been popular since the 1950s. Rapid advancement of computer technology in the last decade, however, has changed the research focus in this area dramatically. This paper attempts to provide an overview of five major current research topics in simulation. It concludes by suggesting that ‘visual’, ‘interactive’ and ‘intelligent’ might be the three most important elements in future simulation models.
