This paper deals with the problem of estimating the expected warranty cost/unit sold for the case where the item usage is intermittent over the warranty period and the failure of item is dependent on item usage. It proposes two models for item failure and obtains results for the failure-free warranty policy. The paper considers both repairable and nonrepairable items.
