Generalized monotonicity of generalized derivatives is a rather new concept in optimization and nonlinear analysis. It is shown in the present paper how convexity, quasiconvexity, pseudoconvexity and strict pseudoconvexity can be characterized via the monotonicity, quasimonotonicity, pseudomonotonicity and strict pseudomonotonicity of the lower and upper Dini derivatives and the Clarke derivative.
