Abstract:

R.E. Fox offered a procedure for the theory of constraints (TOC) calculation. This article is a demonstration that this procedure is inefficient when making new product introduction decisions. The Fox model is based on a point-in-time evaluation. Linear-integer programming is a much better planning tool and comes closer to achieving the TOC goal of maximizing throughput.
