Experienced regression analysts develop an awareness of the frailty of their results. They know that stunning reversals can result from a change in function form, the addition or deletion of variables, or even modest alterations in the data set. Yet even jaded users can become unnerved when the same regression model seems two contradictory outcomes. The authors discuss various issues relating to teaching basic statistics concepts to students.
