Two applications of Lexicographic Goal Programming are reported, the first relating to the evolution of an optimal carbon-material mix for manufacturing calcium carbide, the second relating to an optimal product-mix of yarn counts in a textile mill. The solutions obtained showed not only how the conflicting objectives could be satisfactorily reconciled but also how implementation problems presented by other approaches could be redressed and how productive resources could be better planned and exploited.
