Abstract:

A tandem queueing system with two stations and no intermediate storage between them, is considered. The paper studies the optimal assignment of the slower and the faster servers to the two stations in order to stochastically minimize the departure times from the first station, the waiting time before the first station, and the probability that the first station is either busy or blocked.
