Dynamic control of terminals in a time-shared central server system with distributed stations

This paper presents a congestion control method for central server type systems such as cash-dispenser system, airline reservation system, etc. The present method, differing from traditional flow control mechanisms, is implemented by means of simple operations on terminals (turning on or off some of them), based on observations of system state. Experiments show that the present control method is very effective.
