On the occasion of the promotion of the first several issues of the Yugoslav Journal of Operations Research, which took place at the plenary session of the nineteenth Yugoslav Symposium on Operations Research (YU-SYM-OP-IS ’92) in Belgrade, in October 1992, J. Petric, Editor-in-Chief of YUJOR, prepared a review of the development of Operations Research in Yugoslavia. Such development was necessary in order to put together the conditions for such a journal to appear. This text is dedicated to the promotion of the journal, aiming the in-depth consideration of its origins and everything that had to be done before its first issue appeared.
