Activities in Quantitative Analysis in Hong Kong

This paper reports the finding of a survey on the applications of Quantitative Analysis (Operational Research and Statistical Analysis) in commerce and industry in Hong Kong completed in 1987. The survey identifies (1) the frequency of the use of quantitative techniques, (2) the application areas, (3) the use of computer packages for these techniques, (4) the organisational location of QA activities in the corporation, (5) the projection of manpower involving in QA and (6) the major barriers of using QA in the organisation. The results outline the current status of QA activities in the territory and provide useful information to planning and development of QA education.
