Abstract:

This note shows that for the Engset loss model with s servers working at rate μ and quasirandom (N,γ) input the transient distribution can only have a product form if no blocking arises, i.e. N•s. Furthermore, in the case with blocking the transient distribution of the number of requests at the service station can be expressed as a sum of two product form distributions if and only if N=2s+1 and γ=μ.
