The problem of pairing stereo speakers to maximize sound quality is formulated as a matching problem. A new heuristic method is developed to generate sets of speaker pairs which are well matched. Solutions using this technique are compared with solutions obtained from standard matching algorithms. A brief description of the implementation of the technique in a New Zealand factory is given.
