Abstract:

Simply, a decision support system (DSS) is a computer-based advisory package. This DSS package can contain any computer-based item that provides information to help in decision-making, including relational databases, geographical information systems, ecological system simulations, economic analyses, etc., all of which can be pulled together by an expert system which is used to provide advisory-type statements, which managers can accept or totally ignore if they so choose.
