Considerations for integrating spatial information in decision support systems

The technological development of geographical information systems and remote sensing began years ago as separate endeavours, but the two now meet at a time when their unification is an important objective for the development of decision support systems for natural resource management agencies. Although the inherent idiosyncrasies of these two technologies have presented problems in their integration, certain actions can be taken to facilitate both their incorporation and integration into the corporate information environment.
